Ducati rider Casey Stoner will start the Australian MotoGP grid start leading. This was confirmed after Stoner won the fastest qualifying session in Phillip Island circuit, Saturday, October 16, 2010.

Stoner record time of 1 minute 30.107 seconds. Following in the rankings of two and three are Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies. Malang for Rossi, who will start in eighth position.
